For the healthier planet
Cellulose Nanofiber (CNF), is a sustainable material made from wood
Strong, beautiful & flexible
- the future with LUNAFLEX® -
To create a sustainable society in the future, Kao has developed strong, beautiful and flexible LUNAFLEX® using Kao's core technologies to cellulose nanofibers, a natural material made from wood.
LUNAFLEX® is a custom-made product developed to provide a range of solutions. Because CNF is a hydrophilic material in its normal state, it is not compatible with resins and solvents. Kao customizes modified CNF based on the type of resin/solvent used in order to resolve issues faced by resin manufacturers to respond to a variety of challenges, such as achieving uniform CNF dispersion.
Development of light, durable mobility applications
Uniform CNF dispersion enhances the mechanical properties of resins. This helps to reduce the weight and enhance the strength of vehicle bodies and other mobility applications.
Development of smart electronics
Dimensional stability of materials is dramatically improved by forming a CNF nano-network. This technology contributes to the development of compact, light and cutting-edge electronic products.
Product design enabling to create ideal forms
Rheological control and dimensional stabilization with CNF provide greater design flexibility.
Advanced, sustainable and environmental-friendly material
CNF is a biomass-derived material made from natural wood fibers. Kao's interface control technology enabled CNF dispersion for materials which was difficult to apply.
